Bending the River is an infrastructural artwork. During construction we discovered under the concrete of the Los Angeles River, the sand, silt, stone, wood, seed and bone that have been buried there. Here you see the living systems that manifest the abundance latent in this discovered historic floodplain of the LA River. The floodplain was relocated and with only sunlight, germination began to occur including various sages, sunflower, willow, telegraph weed, bladder pod, sagebrush, amaranth, mulefat, & saltbush. Here you see the under net the floodplain was placed on top of which includes coastal live Oak logs inoculated with mushroom species, Pleurotus ostreatus.
