Parametric Decoy

The project started with the discovery of an unusual shape. Draw two parallel sine arcs and connect their opposite points. That's how you get one slice of Parametric Decoy. The shape may appear in its different phases. Sometimes elegant, sometimes awkward. Sometimes broken, sometimes symmetrical. Only connectivity stays the same.

Features:

  • size: small, medium, large
  • color: several options
  • background: transparent, halftone, cutout
  • distorted: no, maybe*, twisted, displaced, yes**
  • "maybe" means I'm not quite sure if distortion affects visible part of the shape
** "yes" means combination of "twisted" and "displaced"

Made with p5js, inspired by pop-art collages and my own geometric sketches

Artists on the Rise - Jan 2023

By bfos.art

A continuation of a series I started in 2022. Is there anything better than being a fan "before they were cool?" Being ahead of the curve takes patience, but it can be rewarding in many ways! Most, but not all, works I've highlighted in this article are owned by myself. I strongly recommend that you take a deep look at each one of these artists if you haven't already.
