Cosmic Oscillations

This generative art piece explores the mesmerizing beauty of nebulae, vast interstellar clouds of gas and dust. Inspired by the intricate patterns of ionized gas, the artwork leverages the oscillogram algorithm – a sophisticated form of the Lissajous curve – to render these celestial wonders.

Each nebula is a dynamic composition of three overlapping oscillograms, each with unique parameters randomly generated to produce a kaleidoscope of swirling curves and wild sways. The background is adorned with a randomly generated star field, immersing the viewer in the vastness of the cosmos.

A portion of the HSL color wheel is mapped onto each closed-loop oscillogram, resulting in a vibrant and ethereal display of colors reminiscent of the celestial hues observed in nebulae. The generated images are presented within a picture frame, simulating a telescopic view into the depths of space.

This artwork invites viewers to experience the ever-changing nature of the universe. Pressing any key generates a new scene, revealing a unique and breathtaking interpretation of these cosmic phenomena.

As Timothy Leary would have said: Far out!
