Project

A generative cityscape experiment. All buildings and features are created at run-time with no fully premade assets used.

This piece features:

  • Variable depth of the scene and density of buildings
  • both day and night scenes with corresponding change of lighting (“day” scene is more likely)
  • chance of rain. Note that rain/no rain property is rolled only once at the start with “no rain” slightly more likely

Building types:

  • Block: simple rectangular shape
  • Double block: left and right side are mirrored with a different central body
  • Tower: can have 2 or 3 bodies, one is always taller than the other(s)
  • Slanted: one side of the building is inclined like a slide

Additional features (not all buildings can roll all of them)

  • lift: left, right or in the middle
  • “dome” roof
  • inclined roof
  • antenna(s) on top
  • balconies
  • 4 different types of windows combined as: single, groups of 2/3/4 (horizontally or vertically) or full building width/height
