In this project, I studied how Chinese Yin-Yang Wu-Hsing Theory (the Five Elements Theory) is applied to modern graphic design. Based on the Five Elements correlative system, I associated the Five Elements with colours, shapes, numbers, and dates; then use them as variables to develop a set of generation rules. Through programming, I made a series of generative visual experiments; finally created a Five-Element graphics generation website.
The website can generate three different layout graphics according to the date entered by the user, and these graphics can be used for various purposes such as personalized visual identity. Besides, it allows users to draw their own graphics using the Five-Element shapes as raw materials. p5.js
