Ramble #3
Project
- the animation takes time to trigger so you can read the generative prose *
ram•ble - talk or write at length in a confused or inconsequential way / a walk taken for pleasure in the countryside
Ramble is narrative artwork about a life (or lives). From a single observation to a long history. Part prose part painting. After a time the letters of the narrative slowly cover with tiny abstract landscapes. They are the type of landscape painting you would paint on a postage stamp. As the size of the narrative grows it becomes harder and harder to read all the letters before they are covered. Eventually when all the letters are covered the landscapes are walked over and scratched. There is no trace of what was there to start.
Just code (Javascript, no frameworks or dependencies).

Technical / Artistic
The prose is built around a slotted algorithm that builds sentences always starting with a universal pronoun. It then splits and randomizes the lines and fills the allotted grid space it is given. The build up of sentences creates a sort of character study or life.
The landscapes are a set of very simple rolling shapes with texture applied, they stick to a predefined color scheme chosen by the hash. They remind me of tissue paper stained glass kids make in kindergarten.
The scratches are just that, scratches or shapes that bleed through to the background. They serve to flatten and wipe away, chair scratches on a ballroom floor or bird footprints in sand.
Scaling the image up or down will yield slightly different final outputs. I prefer the 10:9 view ratio. Right click to save image.

- You constantly outdid yourself, when it came to shrewd remarks. You kept inner monologues, they said 'It's ok to be sad', but you cried anyway. You feared the worst. You gave yourself headaches from too much TV.1 of 85 indexed editions · 1%
