Serendipity

By Wanda Oliver (original)

When working IRL with light, chemistry, and photosensitive paper, I work intuitively. In a dance with forces that operate within their own complex interactions, I watch and react, making split-second decisions and moving quickly to exaggerate or retard what I see happening. I am the conductor of a somewhat unruly orchestra. It occurs to me that experimental photography is a very generative process - it just isn’t centered in code and its variability is driven by physics rather than math. Perhaps it is no wonder that I am drawn to both genArt and the fringes of photographic practice.

Revolutionizing the Art Industry with Generative Art

By ham ahang

This year will mark the 500th anniversary of Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa. For artists, it is a momentous occasion to celebrate how much Renaissance art has progressed over the centuries. In modern times, there are few great masters left. The majority of contemporary art remains fairly flat and unoriginal like the quality of the art in museums today. This is why people are turning to generative art to create pieces that look fresh and unique — without having an artist or studio behind it at all!

Seeing and being seen on bike

By umbrella_noises

Through many years we are at the door of the bike revolution. If I would like to be pathetic then I would say that town and the city roads are empty during the nights but as bikers we fill the ‘risk factor bag’ fully. To make the night ride safer and more comfortable is a first step for everyone and especially for people who haven't ridden a bike at night in the dark. Nevertheless seeing and being seen is not important only for the cyclists, it is important for all the participants in the traffic. Bicycles were invented in 1817 and the bulbs followed the street light techniques so far. Now we have several ways to be more noticeable on the roads and not to be unseen in traffic to avoid any troubles there. I try to unlock some of my trilemmas about bike lighting systems. I would like to analyze and represent the amount of energy that we are using for bike lighting, the place where we are mounting it and the intensity of the light source itself.

The resilience of change management in small and medium-sized businesses

By resilientchanges

This article is aiming to discuss the resilience of change management in SMBs. Change management as part of IT Service Management (ITSM) has a few principles to make reaction to changes, their implementation and documentation easier for IT companies. Even though these principles are complex and harder to implement for smaller companies, they would also need to implement ITSM practices to operate effectively.

CISSPs From Around The Globe: An Interview with James Wright

By sudojames

The Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification is considered the gold standard in information security. This is so because of all the doors that certification opens to a CISSP professional. Those doors lead to many different types of positions and opportunities, thus making the information security community dynamic and multifaceted. In support of this, (ISC)² has launched a series of interviews to explore where CISSP certification has led security professionals. In this installment, we meet James Wright. He is a cybersecurity technologist with The Walt Disney Company. He is also a U.S. Air Force veteran and graduate of the University of Denver, holding a Master of Science degree in Information Systems Security and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Information Technology.

Fractal trip

By 1999_retek

I got into this topic when I was reading The Hidden Life of Trees by Peter Wohlleben. This book is about the system of forests and how they work. Under the forest lays a hidden world of interconnected fungi that support and help the communication of trees. Natural structures are often self-similar, these are the so-called fractals. This repetitive structure helps them be more stable, more resilient. In the following article, I will be sharing my findings on the topic of fractals such as what fractals are, the history of fractals, why people see fractals when using hallucinogens and so on. In short, things that I found of interest about this topic.

Neighborhood Telegram chats as a driver of local activism and a leap in civic consciousness despite excessive state surveillance in Belarus

By snegnayaira

Described below trilemma holds that Usability, Security, Transparency are mutually incompatible for smooth functioning of digital civic activism: enhanced security measures, such as two-factor authentication and decrypted messages that enables chatting across devices easily are incompatible with usability, while the security concerns implies providing the misleading information and hiding any info that could reveal people’s identities that combats transparency and fuels mistrust within the community.
